Who is the 2009 AL MVP? There is little doubt in the NL that Albert Pujols will win the MVP award for the second straight year, and third overall. In the AL though, Mark Teixiera, Miguel Cabrera, Joe Mauer, Derek Jeter and Jason Bay have all made their cases. Unfortunately I don't have a vote, but if I did it would go to Victor Martinez based on handshakes alone - and the 108 RBIs this year didn't hurt. So you tell us, who is the 2009 AL MVP?

Though Taylor is right, that was a botched handshake, Victor Martinez is one of the best hitting catchers, and one of the worst overall at the position, he needs to be in the mix for MVP. However, If I had to vote, I would vote for Derek Jeter, just because he played for Western Michigan... who doesnt like the Broncos?
I would have to agree. Jeter should win the AL MVP. He brought the most value to the team which had the best record.
